For a group of so-called Bad Surfers, the team lead by Shane Bost is certainly making an impact right now.
When I looked at the positions at the end of last week for yesterday’s blog post, Bad Surfers did not really appear on my radar.
But today things are a little different.
Bad Surfers have climbed 17 places, are not far off one billion team points already and are in fifth place overall in the competition.
That, by itself, is pretty good going…but there is more.
Yesterday Shane took out a banner ad on the CTP home page which really stood out. In fact it stood out so much that even some people in TimTech did a double take and asked what was going on.
Jon mentioned the ad in TELive and held it up as an example of clever advertising which really works.
If you saw it already then you will know what I mean, but if not then this is the advert below:
It is the ad on the right…it is one of those clever ads which both fit in with the page and yet manages to really stand out at the same time. So welcome Traffic Dodgems as the newest site where you can earn XP on the tiered surfing badges.
Finally a member of another team just happened to notice where Shane was on the Top 100 leader-board right now…
Now that is what I call BAD.
Good job that ad looks awesome
It’s an awesome ad that really wants to make you surf Traffic Dodgems. WTG Shane
Brilliant Shane 🙂
ok
Thank you for the kind words!
Great idea … If he made background transparent or gradient gray from #F7F7F7 to #EEEEEE it would look perfect 🙂
Indeed cool Job 🙂
