In December 2001 a group of scientists from New South Wales, Australia, published a research paper called “Shell clamping behaviour in the limpet Cellana tramoserica.”
It is amazing that it has taken until now for me to learn of its existence and I am happy to share it with you today.
The summary states: “This paper describes the development of an apparatus to analyse limpet clamping activity in relation to known forces, including simulated wave activity and predator attack.
“The results show that Cellana tramoserica clamps its shell in a closely regulated manner consistent with an active role in the limpet adhesion mechanism.”
It got me thinking…if these guys are so knowledgeable about things that find a spot and then want to hold on there for dear life, they should study the iron-clad grip SurfAholics Alpha currently have at the top of the CTP Teams Premier League.
At the start of the week, the Alphas had became the first team in history to reach the 100 billion points mark and right now they are closing in on the 200 billion mark…but wait there is more.
Earlier on today they claimed another first…the first team where every single member of their full 25-strong squad each earned more than one billion weekly points.
Right now the highest earning member Thomas Buckley has 20.1 billion points, Sabrina Traversa is right in the middle in 13th place on 5.9 billion points while Sarojini Endla is in position 25 with a “mere” 1.3 billion points.
And all 25 of the SurfAholics Alpha team are in the top 54 of the Top 100 Players league table.
So guys (and girls) if you can tear yourselves away from earning points for a few moments then give yourselves well-deserved pats on the back.
