Well it is not quite Math Monday but these are some numbers you might enjoy taking a look at.

ctp by numbers

Jon crunched these numbers over the weekend and I think they sum up quite eloquently the power of CTP.

Remember that these are the numbers since the beginning of this year only…this was achieved in under four weeks.

As Jon wrote on his blog: “Now if I was a new (or growing) traffic exchange owner, affiliate marketer, network marketing professional I would be salivating at numbers like this. Not only does CTP bring in loads of new potential, it brings in ACTIVITY!

“The opportunity is there and if you are sitting back and taking it easy in 2015, it might be the time to shake things up and get active in this community. There is nothing more important and valuable than community and it’s right there…In front of you!”

Nothing much more I can add to that really apart from the fact that YOU are part of an awesome, vibrant, growing, active, community. Celebrate that fact and continue to grow and prosper as CTP continues to grow and prosper.

I hope everyone really enjoyed our 102 hours of crazy deals for the Black Friday 2014 event which ended at midnight last night.

There were lots of bargains to be had and I am sure you will be putting them all to good use. The only real casualty of the event was the planned 102 hour live streaming thanks to the new maximum broadcast limits imposed by Spreecast, but we worked around it with daily eight hour shows instead. Thanks to everyone who took part in the shows and a special thanks to everyone who decided to host their own shows in the TELive room during the event.

This community is full of really awesome people and it is great knowing you all.

So back to the way that the Black Friday deals continue to impact on CTP Teams…well just the quickest of quick glances at the leaderboards will be enough of a clue for anyone…the numbers continue to be totally insane. (If these numbers spoke they would speak like one of the rather strange voices that Tim used to use in some of the CTP training videos – that is how crazy they are!)

It is only just Tuesday and already the Alphas have more than 50 billion points – they look set to easily become the first team in CTP history to get 100 billion points, as predicted by Tom Wacker a few days ago.

Tom’s team, Lucky 13, sitting in second place with 28.1 billion points, could also break that barrier before the week is out. If my math is correct then, at current rates, the Alphas should break the 100 billion barrier as early as tomorrow while Lucky 13 should do so sometime on Friday and none of the other teams can score this high. Hopefully that prediction won’t come back to haunt me too badly.

The top three teams in the Competitive League (TE Racing League, Surf Lovers and Strays Team Bee) each currently have more points than the bottom two in the Premier League (Dream Team and Bonz Brigade) but there is still a long way to go for many more changes as the week progresses.

As ever good luck to everyone in CTP Teams and have fun.

Now Lucky 13 break the CTP teams counter too

Lucky 13 and SurfAholics Alpha are tied at the top of the Premier League…or so it seems.

Actually it is just further proof that a second team has reached the new upper limit to which our CTP Teams computer processor is prepared to count.

After all it is a very big number and everyone and everything has a limit beyond which they will not cross.

See the previous post for more on this if you have not done so already.

The real scores are still being counted in the background and it is that just for the time being we can’t display them, that’s all.

SurfAholics Alpha break the CTP Teams counter for second time in two months

Nooooooooooooo – it is happening again. Our two highest scoring teams are amassing so many points that they are breaking our counters again.

When it happened last time we thought we had solved the problem, but it took just two months for the high-scoring super teams to put a virtual spanner in our works once more.

Last time round SurfAholics Alpha and Lucky 13 broke out systems when they earned 2,147 483, 647 total points in one week and we thought by increasing the processing power of our deepest inner workings we had it fixed.

This time round the Alphas have stopped the clock on the number 4,294,967,295 – which is twice as large as the previous killer number – it is also the largest number sequence that a 32-bit processor can manage.

This latest counting crisis is very revealing – it tells us that in just two months the top two teams have doubled the amount of weekly team points they are earning.

I think this is nothing short of amazing and it goes to show why these two teams dominate the contest.

Put it like this – I told yesterday that on Monday the Alphas were averaging one million points gained every single minute of the day…well they have kept that pace up all week. Well done indeed.

As for our our stalled counter, I am sure we will have it fixed soon but, in the mean time, be assured that the individual member scores are still being recorded.

CTP Teams – using XP to break the internet. Awesome.

CTP just keeps on getting bigger and bigger and as it does so it keeps breaking records.

Here are five CTP-related big numbers for those of you out there who like such things.

  1. 110,000 – This was the number of CTP members we had reached sometime last night. Right now the member count stands at 110,021 and Matt1509 is our newest member. So if you are reading this then welcome to CTP Matt.CTP membership passes 110,000 mark
  2. 6,311,908,053 – This is the biggest ever CTP Teams related number to date. It is the total number of team points awarded last week alone to the top two teams SurfAholics Alpha and Lucky 13.
  3. 2,147,483,647 – The number that broke the CTP Teams counter, but we have fixed it now so it is unlikely we will ever run out of numbers again.
  4. 20,000,000 – Badges really took off on CTP and we recently reached the milestone where 20 million CTP badges had been collected. At time of writing the number has risen to 20,166,052.CTP badges
  5. 131,856.95 – This is a really awesome number indeed and the only non-integer in the group of five. It is the amount of money in dollars paid out in commissions to CTP members to date. Not bad eh?

Thanks to SurfAholics Alpha and Lucky 13, I get to write the nerdiest post ever on CTP Teams…so if you like nerdy you will like this.

It seems that the way that team points are counted on CTP Teams, there is an upper limit of 2,147 483, 647 – two billion, one hundred forty-seven million, four hundred and eighty-three thousand six hundred and forty-seven.

Getting from 0 to 2,147 483, 647 is easy, but ask the computer to add one to that number and it doesn’t know what to do.

We can see this by studying two recent screenshots taken a few minutes apart, (although the actual time between screenshots is not relevant):

Two CTP Teams teams reach the highest numbet our computer can count Two CTP Teams teams reach the highest numbet our computer can count 1

These screenshots show that both Lucky 13 and the Alphas have reached the number 2,147 483, 647, also known as the eighth Mersenne prime, and the count has stopped there. We can see that the counter is still working for numbers lower than this one because the total for Uber Surfers has increased in the time between these screenshots.

So what is the significance of the number known as the eight Mersenne prime?

Well it seems that Boris from Lucky 13 actually recognized the number  as soon as he saw it…how nerdy is that?

According to Wikipedia this number is “…the maximum positive value for a 32-bit signed binary integer in computing. It is therefore the maximum value for variables declared as integers in many programming languages, and the maximum possible score, money, etc. for many video games. The appearance of the number often reflects an error, overflow condition, or missing value.”

So the big question is what is the actual number of points scored by the top two teams this week? Well the individual points are still being recorded so it is a simple matter to simply add them all up.

This gives us, at the time of writing this blog post:

1. SurfAholics Alpha – 3,375,536,767

2. Lucky 13 – 2,346,810,473
