Special Bonus Coverage at no Extra Charge

We all know that I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed.  I was utterly convinced that the Plus 1 Badge Hunt ended at midnight last.  Guess what?  It is really midnight tonight!

We will award over 16,000 badges.  A great number.

HINT:  Be on the lookout for ‘last day’ badge specials.  More than a couple people will change their requirements right at the end.  I know there is one at SeaLife Hits.

You have got to know that the Legacy team would be in the badge hunt.  They are specialists at leverage and are not going to miss this chance.  Some of the Legacy badges are surf requirements and some are “buy” badges.  Like I said earlier. it just never hurts to ask people to buy from you. Particularly when you have something good to give them.

Ben Frazier is another savvy TE owner that knows the value of leverage.  He has surf requirements at Tower Traffic and Advertising Maximizer as well as list building components. This isn’t Ben’s first rodeo, he is another guy that you could pattern your business after.

So now it’s really over.  This is an incredibly exciting time for TimTech and our friends.  The Plus 1 Badge Hunt finish coincides with the first round of playoffs.  What a swirl that has caused in the space time continuum.

It’s been real, it’s been fun.  I’m sure you haven’t heard the last of me.

The last gasp, the fat lady sings, it’s all over but the shoutin’.

This is the very last update to the Plus 1 Badge Hunt.  It absolutely ends tonight at midnight EDT.

By any measure, it has been a success.  15,000 plus badges awarded.  Multiple badges given away over 400 times.  Literally thousands of new players exposed to the game.

I really expect a big rush to the finish on total badges.  I just have the feeling that several CTP teams have ‘delayed’ claiming badges until the playoffs began.

I have some hard numbers on my badge, number 161.  As of right this minute I have given away 176 badges that resulted in 108 NEW signups on my blog list.  That is the absolute most ‘bang for the buck’ of any advertising I have done this year.  And these are brand new subscribers to a list that has been around for several years.

Old friends like John Novak, Tony Tezak, William Miller, Jerry Ianucci, Andrew Stark and Renee Vorbach once again used the Plus 1 Badge Hunt to great success.  Newer faces like Doug Roehrig,  Kris Rogers, Leone Marziano, Susan Howarth, Thomas Sheets and Tim Hanson just clobbered this badge hunt.

It’s been a good run, for the hunters and the holders.

I’m guessing we will do it again sometime:)

Plus 1 Badge Hunt has this update and one more and then it is done!  It’s almost the end and still there is a certain frenzy at the badges.  I really think there is some serious badge collection to be done.  Why?

Because CTP teams season 3 ended at midnight.  The playoffs for season 3 begin at midnight tonight (Monday).  How many savvy teams have qualified for badges and not collected them?  I’ll bet there are way more than a few in this category and that we will see a big uptick in badges awarded on the first day of the playoffs.

Which isn’t to say that the Plus 1 Badge Hunt hasn’t been a roaring success so far.  It has seen very near 14,000 badges awarded already, and more than 36 hours to go.

Remember that there are 75 people that are jockeying for position and the possibility for a prize.  I expect that list to change significantly before the end.

I always like to see what successful people do, and to pattern my business after them.  One of the very successful people in our sphere is Eric Goettman.  His 5 badges have two that are ‘sign up’ badges for business’ that Eric owns.  The other 3 are simple ‘buy anything from XXX site’ badges.

It just doesn’t hurt to ask people for a sale.  Eric has good TEs and with the 3 sale badges he gives you and I an incentive to purchase credits at his sites.  The nugget?  Don’t be afraid to ask your customers to buy.

I sweet guarantee that you will make way more money if you actually ask people to buy.

So.  Every badge is created equal right?  Not so much.

There are 180 badges that are all more or less the same, but badge number 046 is special.  Brought to you by Sig Skeie and his cruising buddy Rob P, the formerly humble badge #46 is now the premier badge in the hunt.

It’s easy to get, just donate $5.00 to the TE Cares Clean Water program.  Your donation will ensure that people get clean water to drink and cook and bathe in.  Water is not a luxury in life, it is a necessity.

Clean Water is a bona fide charity and 100% of the donations go directly to the water project.  So far badge #46 has raised over $1000 for clean water.  It’s simply the best badge you can claim.  Let’s see if we can’t push it over $2000!

An old friend is in 4th place overall in number of badges awarded.  Tony Tezak, badge number 102. What is remarkable about that?  Well, Tony is one of the most astute businessmen in this part of the world and if he’s leveraging badges they simply must work.

A person could do a lot worse than just patterning his business by doing exactly what Mr. T does.  I’m not saying copy him, just do what he does.

Oh, okay.  I’m saying copy Tony.  Build a list, communicate with your list, and don’t be afraid to sell to them every now and again.  See what happens.

The Plus 1 Badge Hunt marks a departure for us, and it is plainly showing in the badge totals and badge holders.

Some of you may not know that in some of the previous hunts I counted every badge every day in order keep everyone informed and up to speed.  It is considerably easier now that TimTech does the counting and sorting for us.

The badge hunters have changed some.  I see lots of new faces claiming badges and lots of new names on the list of people that will get paid for being in the top 75.  When there was only one prize (and often only one winner) there were a fairly small group of people that I noticed every day.  Now I see a much larger group.

News Flash:  Elina Balashova will not be the top badge claimer this hunt.  For those that don’t know, Elina won the first 4 badge hunt titles.  She has grown from monster surfer to owning SunshineSurfClub and giving out badges for surfing her site.

A year ago, almost nobody knew who Thomas Sheets was.  Just another face in the crowd.  Now he owns 4 TEs and is one of the people that really gets the leverage that is available by using the badge hunt and promos to grow his product.  Another person that has taken action and gone in way over his head.  And not only survived but is starting to thrive.

Who knew Susan Howarth a year ago?  Kris Rogers?  Leone Marzino?  Just goes to show that you can step out from the crowd.

The point of all this is that each and every one of us can do it.  I can do it, you can do it.  It takes hard work and dedication every day, but the growth potential in this business is just amazing.  It can start by getting more badges than you ever thought possible.  What are you waiting for?  The world awaits!

Now you can sponsor CTP badges for a real advertising boost

I still laugh when I recall how people used to say that CTP badges would never catch on.

With more than 23 million of them claimed I think it is fairly safe to say that these badges are pretty well established within our community.

In fact there are many people who will not even consider surfing a traffic exchange unless it contains badges.

Claiming them is one thing but now there is something new you can do with CTP badges…you can sponsor them.

You decide which badge(s) you want to sponsor and then everyone who claims them while you are the sponsor will see your message…powerful stuff indeed.

Benefits of Sponsoring a CTP Badge

So why would you want to sponsor a CTP badge? Well because it is a really cool thing to do of course!

Also, and perhaps just slightly more importantly, just think of all the people who would be able to see your sponsor message each time they claim your sponsored badge.

It will also be displayed on the badge holders pages (which is also great for SEO by the way) and this means you will have a whole lot of eyes looking at your message.

How To Sponsor a CTP badge

Here is how it works:

1. Login to CTP and go to the CTP badge sponsor page.

2. You will see a selection of some of the badges that are available to sponsor right now.

3. Click on the badge you want to sponsor and you will be taken to the payment page. It costs just $5 to sponsor the badge for one month. The badge will be held for you for five minutes to give you time to complete the payment process. If you don’t complete it or change your mind by clicking away from the page then the badge will be released for someone else to claim.Sponsoring a CTP badge

You will also find a link to claim a badge from that badge’s specific page…unless someone has already claimed it first of course.

Additionally when you claim a badge, then as long as someone else has not got there first, you will see a link allowing you to sponsor that badge too.

When I claimed this I can see that Sunny Suggs has already sponsored this badge. Her picture, message, and the URL she wants to send people to also shows up.

Think of what you could do if you were the sponsor of your own favourite CTP badges.

But don’t spend too much time thinking because someone else may come along and snap up the badge before you.

Remember when people used to say that collecting badges was silly?

I guess there are still those out there who still think this…but their numbers are getting fewer by the day.

There are people who still think the Earth is flat so I guess there are people who must still think that badges are silly and that they have no place in ‘serious’ online business.

Well Bill’s Birthday Badge Hunt is all the proof that you need to demonstrate that collecting CTP badges does really work and really works well.

CTP badges

I love reading the comments on this blog, especially as they cover a diverse range of views, opinions and points of view on subjects which are dear to all our hearts.

One comment which really caught my eye recently was this:

“I spent tons and earn very little. What does badges really accomplish? Thanks.”

It was left on the Time To Reward Surfers With Our Biggest Ever XP Badges Yet post and is a question which crops up from time to time.

As I write this post 23,384,821 CTP badges have been claimed in the four years since the program was launched…that’s right more than 23 million badges have been claimed by CTP members to date.

From this we can infer that people really like collecting CTP badges so badges help keep up activity across the growing number of platforms which offer them.

Those who buy badges from us, including traffic exchange and other program owners, report that the investment more than pays for itself…so badges help generate income and activity across the community.

Badges have also helped bloggers, list builders, affiliate marketers, online newbies and many more diverse groups of people help achieve their online goals.

Just take a look at the huge demand for badges each time we have a special badge hunt promotion where people buy badges and leverage them to generate interest in what they are promoting.

Badges are also fun to collect and having fun is an important, but sadly all to easily forgotten, part of business. The reasoning behind this is that if you are not enjoying your online (or offline) work then you will not get the most out of it.

So, in short, badges help accomplish a lot more than you may first think. In fact, when they were first launched with CTP four years ago we did not even see how big they would become. And as for four years from now…well that is anyone’s guess.

 

CTP just keeps on getting bigger and bigger and as it does so it keeps breaking records.

Here are five CTP-related big numbers for those of you out there who like such things.

  1. 110,000 – This was the number of CTP members we had reached sometime last night. Right now the member count stands at 110,021 and Matt1509 is our newest member. So if you are reading this then welcome to CTP Matt.CTP membership passes 110,000 mark
  2. 6,311,908,053 – This is the biggest ever CTP Teams related number to date. It is the total number of team points awarded last week alone to the top two teams SurfAholics Alpha and Lucky 13.
  3. 2,147,483,647 – The number that broke the CTP Teams counter, but we have fixed it now so it is unlikely we will ever run out of numbers again.
  4. 20,000,000 – Badges really took off on CTP and we recently reached the milestone where 20 million CTP badges had been collected. At time of writing the number has risen to 20,166,052.CTP badges
  5. 131,856.95 – This is a really awesome number indeed and the only non-integer in the group of five. It is the amount of money in dollars paid out in commissions to CTP members to date. Not bad eh?

One of the cool things about CTP badges is that you don’t have to be a traffic exchange owner to benefit from them.

Of course if you are a traffic exchange owner then badges will bring you more activity to your site, encourage visitors to stay longer, interact more and generally do many of the things that, as a business owner, you want to happen.

I have already written a lot abour badges so I don’t plan  to rehash this here. However it is great when members of the community decide to champion badges…because they see the value in them.

One such person doing this right now is Valentin Mavroden who has spent a lot of time of late promoting the benefits of CTP badges via a large number of unique splash pages he makes himself.

He has even just launched a Twitter #BadgesMania hashtag campaign to highlight the benefits of using CTP badges within the traffic exchange industry.

Val has worked out that this is a great way to build his downlines in many programs and it is working well for him.
