I guess it is time for another numbers post. So today’s number is 1440 and today’s question is: “Why is today’s number 1440?”

So 1440 – what could it mean?

Here are some ideas:

* It is the year Eton College was founded

* It is also the year that Itzcóatl, the Aztec ruler of Tenochtitlan died.

* It is a flight number for several airlines – British Airways flight BA1440 flies from London Heathrow to Edinburgh, American Airlines flight AA1440 will take you from Chicago to Boston and Cathay Pacific flight CX1440 will take you from Helsinki to Paris, France. (this must be a code share flight given the departure and arrival airports.)

* It is the number of minutes in a day.

* It is divisible by one, itself and these other numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16, 18, 20, 24, 30, 32, 36, 40, 45, 48, 60, 72, 80, 90, 96, 120, 144, 160, 180, 240, 288, 360, 480, 720.

* It is the sum of the internal angles of a 10-sided polygon and

* It is significant for CTP Teams

The significance for CTP Teams is firstly that if your team was earning one million points per minute then at the end of the day it would have 1.440 billion team points.

On Monday SurfAholics Alpha were doing exactly that – earning one million points every single minute of the day. It takes real team work to do that and it gives me a chance to do another blog post about numbers. Well done Alphas.
