Phoenix snatches playoffs semi final victory against SurfAholics Alpha to make final of CTP TEams season three against Lucky 13

SurfAholics Alpha won all but one week of the entire six month Season Three before crashing out of the playoffs last night in a battle described as ‘beyond epic’ by Jon Olson.

The dramatic departure of the hot favorites came in the dying moments of play when opponents Phoenix unleashed a short but intense barrage of lethal blows in their semi final game.

With the other semi final game showing only token opposition from Uber Surfers, this means that Phoenix will meet Lucky 13 in the final.

Ironically Phoenix won by employing exactly the same tactic which propelled the Ubers into the semi finals…they did nothing of note for 47 hours and then unleashed a torrent of frenzied activity in the final few minutes.

The fact that this technique could work twice in a row in these playoffs was amazing but the fact that it worked against what is the most experienced, successful and savvy team in CTP Teams is almost beyond belief. (more…)

Jon Olson on TELive

After more than 19,000 badges containing Bill’s face were claimed…we have our winner.

Thomas Sheets managed to find 241 of the 250 badges which had been distrubuted throughout cyberspace…an amazing achievement.

Jon announced the winner on yesterday’s TELive and Thomas as a very worthy winner of the $500 cash prize…so well done, once again, on being such an expert hunter of badges.

This was the biggest badge hunt in TimTech’s history and we think it went well…very well actually.

There will be more badge hunts to come…the next one should be around hallowe’en or thereabouts.

But we have a question for you all: “What could do to make the next badge hunt even better?”

We want to know how things could be better from the point of view of both the badge hunters and the badge sponsors.

Maybe there is something new we could introduce that would make the contest even more fun and exciting…something you would like to see but that nobody else has thought of yet.

In fact any feedback at all would be great…good or bad.

Janelle will also be reaching out to all the badge sponsors separately so if you have any thoughts or suggestions then she wants to know.

Thomas described the badge hunt as “fantastic fun” and that is a great way to sum it up.

It also helped raise money for charity, build up people’s online businesses, raise people’s profiles, put people into programs, get names on lists and so much more.

The badge hunt itself was just on for two weeks but the positive impact it could have is something which could last for a very long time indeed.

I don’t know about you but I am already looking forward to the next one.

Top 100 Players Tab at CTP Teams

The blue button which lets you see the Top 100 CTP Teams players is back.

This shows the players within CTP Teams who have individually collected the most points for their respective teams so this is a great leaderboard to be on.

It is even better now that Jon has announced the trialling of a new cash prize for individual players for Season Three…collecting XP is now both rewarding for your team and potentially very rewarding for you as an individual.

It is being trialled this week to see how popular it is and, if successful, then the new CTP XP Weekly Cash Giveaway could be a weekly feature for this season.

What happened was that Jon, who is not a massive gambler, still managed to end up $100 in profit after his recent trip to Las Vegas…so he wants to give that cash away to CTP Teams members.

Jon announced the new development at a special midnight edition of TELive at midnight to mark the start of Week Four.

So here is how it works…

The team points earned each week are obviously earned by individual members doing tasks to gain XP. Remember that XP can be awarded for many more ways than just surfing traffic exchanges so there is a huge potential to collect it.

So this week we want to reward the top three players who bring in the most weekly points for their teams as follows…

top points earner – $70

second placed points earner – $20

third placed points earner – $10

The winners will be decided by the places on the Top 100 leaderboard at the end of this week, ie 12.59.59 Eastern this coming Sunday night.

If you like this then we can do it again and again every week with cash prizes up for grabs on a weekly basis. It might not be $100 every week but we will keep you informed on this blog on what will be happening.

Remember that this is in addition to the $5,000 season prize pot, so as well as these additional prizes there will still be that cool 5k totally untouched and up for grabs at the end of the season.

Are you on the Top 100 leaderboard. Check it out now to see.

An honorable mention here to Russell Stockley from the Cup of Traffic Division who has already sent an email to his list about this latest development. This is what being on the ball is all about. Well done Russell.

Uber Surfers take Week 10 of Season Two of CTP Teams to tie the season with SurfAholics Alpha for a joint season win

Season Two of CTP Teams ended about as dramatically as it was possible to get.

For most of the early part of the week it was neck-and-neck between Season One champions SurfAholics Alpha and Uber Surfers.

Then the Alphas began to slowly edge forward in the final few days to the point that with just minutes to go to yesterday’s deadline they were around eight billion points in the lead.

Maybe they thought they had the win in the bag – winning Week 10 would have won them the entire season outright and making them the sole winners of the first two seasons of CTP Teams.

However Uber Surfers had other ideas and, with a last minute push to close the gap, they gave it their all…and succeeded with more than one billion points to spare.

That final effort means that Alphas and Ubers are joint winners of Season Two – each with 651 season points. Lucky 13 came in third place for Week 10 and also take third place for the season with 639 season points.

Top Three CTP Teams teams as Season Two reached a dramatic climax after 10 weeks of competition.

The end of the season was so close that Jon Olson posted to Facebook: “What an absolute EPIC end to Season 2 of ‪#‎CTPTeams.

“With only seconds to go, the Uber Surfers come back and TIE to co-win the Season….Huge congrats to both the Ubers and SurfAholics Alpha…Lucky 13 and all the teams…Wow.

I’m Speechless. What a come back!!! Last second….Crazy finish!”

And to Twitter…

Very little separated these two top teams during the entire season and, in the end, very little separated them in the final week. The fact that they both share the top spot for Season Two just shows how evenly matched these teams were.

Don’t miss today’s TELive at 4pm Eastern where Jon Olson will unveil details of what is in store for all new  Season Three at CTP Teams.
