The Strays v Lucky 13 – Let The Battle Begin?

Last week saw the battle between The Strays and Lucky 13 for top spot, and as we know, Lucky 13 held on to their lead all week.

Naturally there was rivalry between both teams during the week…just as you would expect there would be from two very competitive teams.

Yesterday in TELive I mentioned this splash page which Boris made about rivals The Strays:

Losers jibe from Lucky 13 to The Strays

Some people thought the headline was a bit harsh, as did I when I first heard about it. But, having seen the page, I can see that this is nothing more than gentle ribbing.

Now it is the time for The Strays to respond…to keep the rivalry going. Nobody gets hurt, nobody is attacked personally, but it brings something of a competition within a competition if you like.

Jon had a great idea for this week’s Sweeva Surf Party (let’s hope we can get him out of his new hot tub in time for the SSP!) and said a battle of the splash pages between these two teams would be awesome.

It sure would. And with The Strays now with a new leader maybe they are already planning their next move.

Watch this space as they say.

  1. nice video very very funny

  2. Georgia says:

Not a fan of this. I really don’t know why we can’t just enjoy surfing without all this drama and rivalry.

  3. was that the Lucky Strays ???

  4. Stephen Whittle says:

Looking forward to the Strays’ response.

  5. There’s nothing to respond, we just plan to continuing surf with fun 🙂

  6. steven schofield says:

We do what we do best that is surfing.

  7. Patricia Dean says:

    video unnecessary, unkind in mho.

  8. Charlotte says:

As Georgia said…no fan of this.

  9. Lynn M says:

I think for the most part most folks on both teams see it as all in good fun. People have different senses of humor, mine tends to be real sarcastic and I tone it down often for that very reason. We talked to Patrick, the new Strays leader, shortly after Boris started circulating the page and he thought it was hilarious and said many of his team members did too. There’s going to be people who don’t get the humor on both sides, and especially outside of the two teams, no doubt – but it’s all good. For the most part, everybody loves each other and it’s all in good fun. 😉

  10. Wendy says:

Both Lucky Strays and Strays are Lucky are good for me. Because the subject is Strays :D.
I think there is a typo on your splash Boris, it’s smiley cat.

  11. Sig says:

    Yeah!

Nothings like a Good Fight….as I said, how fun would Boxing been, if there wasnt some “word” fights before the matches?

Its a way the boxers brand themself.. and allso to “show” off for the other Boxers etc…

So Lets see whats comming, a good friendly Fight, we all can handle that !

    Good work

  12. Raj G says:

    .
Team Championship is really hotting up, nice and healthy…

    Cheers!

  13. Cathrine says:

I think Sig is right, but it is like Georgia and Wawan says. We should have fun too!

  14. Karen Kuty says:

Smelly cat rocks, but I don’t think he’d pick sides.

I’m glad the team being “kidded” is taking this in good fun, although I am of the opinion that it is better for humor to be personal and live rather than in a general splash.

The reason for this is that I’ve had my snarky humor be badly misinterpreted before. Fortunately, I was there to correct the misunderstanding. A splash page can’t explain itself.

Since not everyone who surfs is part of CTP teams, there is a high risk that people will see the splash and take it as an “in your face” nasty ad instead of in the spirit in which it was intended. Negativity detracts from everyone involved, even if it is a misperception on the part of the viewer.

    Just something to consider…

  15. I posted on the follow-up video already.

While meant in good fun, this may just back fire as people that may have been interested in partnering with you in business suddenly see team members on both sides of the divide as mean spirited and nasty instead of just goofing around.

I guess it brings into question why surf to begin with.

  16. Anton Parvov says:

    Great job with the creativity!

  17. John Brewer says:

    Hmmmm, interesting……

It’s OK for folks to call us cheaters and be serious about it, but not OK to poke a bit of fun. Interesting.

Yes, I guess some may look at is as being a bit mean, but it seems that most see the innocent fun. Sure, it might not be some folks idea of fun, and that’s OK, but there was not such an uproar when we were accused of being cheaters or “buying” first place.

Hmmmmm, I thought we were all adults here….. hmmmmm.

I respect the opinion of those who think it’s a bit harsh.

No hard feeling intended from Lucky 13.
