So Val does this really funny video to promote the Submarine Game at CTP (and get himself more signups into the program in the process.)
Then he starts promoting it heavily and gets a really positive reaction with comments such as:
- wow man that’s really funny
- King Julien – I love that guy
- Very creative – love it
My colleagues at TimTech start talking about and post the link…so I click on it and I’m really confused.
I don’t get it at all and say, all innocently: “So who is this King Julien then. I’ve never heard of him.”
Silence on the call. Disbelief. I think I may even have detected a little bit of pity.
“You don’t know who King Julien is?” was all that anyone would say.
So I explained it all again in TELive again yesterday and got more of the same…except that I discovered that Carl Davies, a fellow Brit, had no idea either.
Anyway there is a much wider point to this blog post than me not being very good on cartoon characters from the world of film and entertainment.
It is this. When you create a splash page one of the very best ways to know that you have got it pretty much spot on is when people are talking about it.
This is the splash page which sparked all the debate about what’s his name King Billy, or King James or King Julien or whoever…
As always, just click on the screengrab above to see why everyone is laughing out loud. Well everyone except me that is, lol.
